Barclays hires HSBC veteran to head private bank investment

Barclays has appointed former HSBC head of product Jean-Christophe Gerard as head of investments in its private bank and overseas services.

Gerard (pictured) had worked at HSBC for more that 20 years in a number of roles, including head of its private bank EMEA and Switzerland chief investment officer.

In his new role he will be responsible for developing and delivering investment propositions for high net worth and ultra high net worth individuals, family office as well corporate and fiduciary clients.

This includes advisory and discretionary investment services and more complex bespoke solutions.

Karen Frank, chief executive of private banking and overseas services, said the hire was in line with the strategy of Barclays International to deliver future growth by investing in this area of the business.
