Brewin Dolphin’s deputy head of equity research, Edmund Salvesen, is to leave the firm.
Salvesen worked as an equity analyst at Brewin from 2008, after completing the firm’s graduate trainee programme.
A frequent commentator on TV and radio, he covered the banking sector and managed eight other analysts on the team.
Commenting on Salvesen’s departure, Guy Foster (pictured), newly appointed group head of research, said: ‘Ed has been a fantastic asset to Brewin Dolphin but, having been in the same firm and role for his whole career, we respect his desire for a change and wish him our very best for the future.
‘We continue to consider candidates who might further strengthen the team and will decide in due course who Ed’s responsibilities ultimately pass to.’
Brewin’s research team has undergone some change since Matthew Butcher’s decision to resign as head of research to take time out of the industry last year. Foster recently took over the role, while Martina Jersakova left her post as an investment company analyst at Brewin Dolphin earlier this year to join Baillie Gifford.
In separate news, Brewin Dolphin is set to close its Lymington and Dorchester branches later this year and opened a consolidated office in Bournemouth. This forms part of the ongoing rationalisation of Brewin’s regional network.
