Brooks hires Manchester IFA investment specialist

Brooks Macdonald has recruited former Frenkel Topping consultant David Mulholland as a business development manager for its IFA investment service.

Mulholland will join the firm in Manchester and will help develop the company’s third party funds service across the UK, the company said. He will report to distribution boss Simon Wombwell.

Wombwell said: ‘We are pleased to welcome David to our growing team. His considerable experience and knowledge will be a great asset when developing new relationships with intermediaries and expanding our vulnerable individual’s advice offering.’

Before joining Frenkel Topping in 2011, Mulholland worked at Aviva Life Insurance for more than a decade. He is additionally specialist in financial intermediation for vulnerable clients.

He added: ‘I am delighted to join the team at Brooks Macdonald. I look forward to helping the business grow by building relationships with professional and intermediary connections and helping vulnerable individuals secure their future.

'Experience has shown me that when vulnerable clients are provided with clear information, visual aids and the opportunity validate their understanding of the themes involved, they become increasingly engaged in the achievement of their financial planning objectives.

'Inspiring confidence is vital when advisers look to engage with a vulnerable client.'

In a trading update at the end of October, Brooks said that funds under management had reached £11 billion having climbed 5.1% over the third quarter.

The increase was a combination of £376 million in net new business and £155 million gained through performance.
