Charles Stanley hires former Aviva Investors chief as CIO

Charles Stanley has hired former Aviva Investors chief executive Paul Abberley as chief investment officer.

Abberley (pictured), who was also CIO at the life company’s investment arm, left last November following its restructure.

Prior to Aviva, he spent eight years at ABN Amro Asset Management as chief investment officer in its fixed income and investment solutions teams, as well being chairman of the firm’s London board.

In his new role at Charles Stanley, Abberley will lead the wealth manager’s investment strategy committee, co-ordinate its research and oversee the communication of this.

He will report into Anthony Scott, head of investment management and director at Charles Stanley.

Scott said: ‘In Paul we have found a top class chief investment officer with whom I look forward to working closely as we look to revitalise Charles Stanley’s research output and asset allocation modelling within the new regulatory framework.”
