Charles Stanley has hired Andy McGowan as regional director of financial planning in its Birmingham office.

McGowan was previously head of financial planning for the Midlands at RSM Tenon and will be tasked with building the company’s advisory business in the region.

Richard Venner, a director at Charles Stanley’s Birmingham office and a former Wealth Manager cover star (pictured with his brother and colleague Tim) , said: ‘He brings a wealth of experience to our business and will be a valuable addition to Charles Stanley Financial Planning as we take the business to the next level in the current regulatory climate.

‘Andy will be invaluable in our development as an office and be an integral part of our business development in the Midlands over the coming years.’

McGowan has also previously worked at BDO, HLB Kidsons and Scottish Widows, and is an associate of both the Pensions Management Institute and the Personal Finance Society.
