Colin Morton: why is our flagship fund so small?

Colin Morton, a Citywire A-rated UK equity manager at Franklin Templeton, talks to Wealth Manager about his highest-conviction fund – and why buyers overlook it.

The Franklin UK Managers’ Focus fund distils the best ideas from Morton (pictured) and his fellow star managers – AAA-rated Paul Spencer, the AA-rated pair of Mark Hall and Ben Russon, and Richard Bullas – into a single portfolio.

The fund is top quintile over the past five years, top decile over three years, and ranks fifth in its 226-strong peer group over the past year.

It has returned 54.7% over the past three years, compared with an average of 32.2% from the IMA UK All Companies sector and 28.8% from the FTSE All-Share index.

Despite this, though, the fund is a relative minnow with just £47 million of assets under management.

In this video interview, Morton reflects on why it has yet to attract stronger inflows.
