Former Odey fund manager Markus Rezny has set up his own firm, Glockner Capital Management.
Wealth Manager understands that Rezny has set up and will run the Glockner Global Opportunities fund, a global equity-focused absolute return strategy.
In addition to running the fund, Rezny will also take up the role of chief investment officer at Glockner Capital Management.
When he left Crispin Odey’s firm in 2016 it was understood that Rezny would continue to run the Odey Orion fund under the banner of a different asset management firm.
It is likely that the Glockner Global Opportunities fund will share similarities with the Odey Orion strategy, which returned 9.6% over the last three years he was at the helm, up to February 2016, against a peer average of 11.7%.
In 2016, an Odey spokesperson stated the Odey Orion fund had been ‘wound down’ as an Odey product and ultimately for the firm saw the fund as un-scalable.
Rezny joined Odey in 2013 from Griffin Capital Management where he had been a fund manager. Prior to this, he was a director at Lehman Brothers.
