Fidelity hires ex-JPM and Aberdeen bond chief

Fidelity Worldwide Investment has recruited fixed income veteran Charles McKenzie from JP Morgan Asset Management.

McKenzie joins Fidelity as head of European fixed income portfolio management, with all fixed income portfolio managers based in Europe now reporting to him.

McKenzie was most recently head of international fixed income investment for EMEA and Asia at JP Morgan Asset Management, where he had worked since 2012.

Before then McKenzie served as head of fixed income for EMEA at Aberdeen Asset Management, where he had spent seven years. Prior to that, he had been a corporate bond fund manager at Deutsche Asset Management.

McKenzie’s appointment follows Fidelity’s promotion of Andy Howse from portfolio managers and product team leader to head of institutional fixed income, product and analytics.

‘In response to the continued growth of fixed income assets, Fidelity Worldwide Investment recently created a new role in its fixed income team dedicated to institutional clients,’ a spokesperson for the firm told Wealth Manager.
