Fidelity hires for newly-created ESG role

Fidelity has hired Michael Gibb, formerly co-head of wealth management distribution at Martin Currie, in the new role of head of sustainable investing.

Gibb, who will also head social governance issues at the firm, previously served as director at Credit Suisse and vice president at Salomon Smith Barney.

In his new role he will oversee the firm's strategy and policies on engagement, voting and environmental social governance (ESG) integration across its active product range.

Fidelity chief investment officer for equity Paras Anand said: 'Michael brings with him a wealth of experience and fresh perspective as we continue to identify and engage with companies on a range of factors that influence their sustainability.

'He will be a welcome addition to the team and lead on the integration, engagement, voting and reporting of ESG across all asset classes at Fidelity.'
