First State hires Aberdeen’s former global macro head

Kieron Nutbrown has joined First State as head of global macro fixed income, having formerly held the same position at Aberdeen.

Wealth Manager understands that Nutbrown will focus on total return strategies within the global rates and currency area.

Nutbrown quit Aberdeen in 2012 alongside Richard Dryer and Jon Cunliffe, respectively the firm’s head of global credit and head of global macro strategy.

At Aberdeen Nutbrown managed foreign-exchange overlay and total return funds from 2009 until his departure, and he also oversaw Aberdeen’s global fixed income funds with £10 billion of assets under management between 2011 and 2012.

Nutbrown joined Aberdeen in 2009 following its acquisition of Credit Suisse Asset Management, where he was head of currency.
