BlueBay Asset Management has hired former Janus Henderson head of credit Stephen Thariyan to the newly created role of co-head of developed markets.
Thariyan will be based in London and will report to the company’s chief investment officer Raphael Robelin (pictured).
Thariyan has 25 years’ experience as a credit investor, most recently at Henderson Global Investors where he was global head of credit for a decade. He left in 2017 following changes to its fixed income team.
Before this he spent eight years as a senior portfolio manager at Rogge Global Partners and has also held roles at Natwest and Chevron.
He will also work alongside Citywire AAA-rated Mark Dowding, co-head of developed markets and previously head of investment grade.
The pair will assume responsibility for BlueBay’s developed markets corporate credit investment process and help develop and grow BlueBay’s corporate credit strategies across investment grade, leveraged finance and convertible bonds.
Robelin said: ‘As we continue to grow our investment capabilities in response to constantly evolving markets and investor demands, our ability to generate superior investment performance is critical to our success.
'As such, we continue to strengthen our investment teams to maintain our focus on strong investment returns for new and existing investors.
‘Stephen is a highly experienced credit investor with a proven ability to lead a global team and generate strong investment returns. His experience will complement Mark’s strong macro and sovereign expertise and, together, I believe they will continue to enhance our Developed Markets footprint.’
