GAM hires Soros fund manager for absolute return team

GAM has bolstered its absolute return fixed income team with the appointment of a Soros Fund Management investment manager.

Owen Job, who has around 12 years' investment experience mainly within the macro strategy space, joined GAM on 6 November and will be based at its London headquarters.

The new hire brings GAM’s absolute return fixed income team to 19 based in London and New York, with responsibility for $11 billion (£8.4 billion) worth of assets.

Commenting on the appointment, GAM investment director and business unit head fixed income Tim Haywood said: 'Owen joins with considerable macro strategy experience spanning more than a decade – he will further strengthen our proposition regarding theme generation and positioning across asset classes. '

The appointment comes a day after GAM revealed it was switching its London base from St James's to Finsbury Circus
