Hargreaves hires employee benefits boss from Zurich

Hargreaves hires employee benefits boss from Zurich

Hargreaves Lansdown has appointed Stephen Lefley as its head of its employee benefits business, HL Corporate Solutions.

The division handles pension and other employee services on behalf of 500 client companies, including more than a third of the FTSE 100.

Lefley joins from Zurich Insurance, where he was head of corporate distribution and responsible for growing the firm’s defined contribution pension fund assets.

Before that Lefley spent over 17 years at Standard Life where he worked his way up from IFA consultant through to corporate client manager.

Hargreaves Lansdown chief executive Chris Hill said: ‘Our approach to workplace savings is different as we believe nearly everyone can and should take an interest in money matters and make good financial decisions, and this is central to improving changes in savings behaviour.

‘People need help to get there, and that means providing them with the right information, in the right way and at the right time.

‘Stephen has many years of experience in workplace pensions and savings, from the largest corporates and consultancies through to SME's, and we are delighted he has chosen to join Hargreaves Lansdown.’

Lefley added: ‘We have ambitious plans at what is an exciting time for the business. Auto-enrolment has positively transformed the availability, quality and membership of workplace pensions.

‘However a good pension scheme is only a part of the wider process needed to fully engage people with their workplace savings and retirement options whilst satisfying the due diligence obligations of trustee boards and scheme sponsors.’
