IMA hires ex-Fidelity CIO for Investor Forum project

IMA hires ex-Fidelity CIO for Investor Forum project

The Investment Management Association has appointed former Fidelity chief investment officer Simon Fraser as chairman of the Investor Forum.

Fraser is currently Chairman of Foreign & Colonial Investment Trust, and a non-executive Director of Ashmore Group.

The organisation, led by Daniel Godfrey (pictured), has also hired Andy Griffiths as executive director. Griffiths has spent 20 years as a research analyst and investment professional at Capital Group, and is currently a senior advisor to Corsair Capital.

The Investor Forum is being formed following the recommendations of the Collective Engagement Working Group, which was established by the ABI, IMA and NAPF, and the Kay Review.

It will be open to all investors who have an interest in UK companies, whether based in the UK or overseas, and its participants will be asset managers, and also asset owners such as pension funds, life assurers and sovereign wealth funds.

The chairman and executive director will now finalise the Investor Forum's constitution and operating model and assemble its board and stakeholder groups ahead of its first meeting, which is expected to be held in September.

'In order to restore trust in the value of markets and their role in the economy, it is imperative that all investors take a long-term interest in the strategic direction of the companies they invest in.

'The Investor Forum will help facilitate better engagement between UK public companies and their shareholders to support long-term value creation opportunities,' Fraser said.
