Investec boosts multi-asset team with triple hire

Investec boosts multi-asset team with triple hire

Investec Asset Management has strengthened its global multi-asset team with three new recruits.

Edmund Ng has been hired as a portfolio manager and will lead the team’s equity research and the development of its equity strategies. Before Investec Ng managed a long-only Europe, Australasia and Far East and a long/short European equity strategy at TT International, having been a sell-side equity strategist at Morgan Stanley earlier in his career.

Michael Streatfield has been recruited to focus on portfolio construction and quantitative analysis. He was previously employed at Towers Watson and at Old Mutual Asset Management as a research actuary, and was head of quantitative research at Fleming Martin Asset Management.

Atul Shinh has joined as an investment specialist with responsibility for product and process management. He was formerly at Mercer, where he led research coverage for diversified growth strategies globally. Prior to this Shinh worked within Axa’s multi-manager and the Financial Services Authority.

The trio will work with Michael Spinks (pictured), whom Investec poached from Schroders in 2012. The team manages more than £10 billion in total.

‘Our long-term track records in running multi-asset strategies and our ongoing investment in the team, specifically to enhance our global diversified growth strategy led by Michael Spinks and diversified income strategies led by John Stopford, combine specialist research experience with multi-asset generalist mind sets,’ commented Domenico Ferrini, co-chief investment officer at Investec Asset Management.
