JP Morgan global thematic manager Clarke exits

JP Morgan Asset Management's co-head of global thematic Gary Clarke has left the firm, Wealth Manager can reveal.

Clarke (pictured), who was formerly head of Schroders' European equities team, ran a raft of funds at the firm alongside Peter Kirkman. They include the JPM Global Equity and JPM Global Unconstrained Equity funds. Kirkman takes over the management of these funds.

The JPM Global Infrastructure Trends fund that Clarke formerly ran was liquidated in August, while his JPM Global Equity Absolute Alpha fund is in the process of being liquidated.

In a statement, JP Morgan Asset Management, said: 'We can confirm Gary Clarke has decided to leave the company for personal reasons. Peter Kirkman has been appointed lead portfolio manager on the JPM Global Equity and JPM Global Unconstrained Equity funds. Peter has served as named portfolio manager on these strategies since inception. The investment philosophy, process and management of the funds remain consistent.'

Over the past three years, Clarke posted an average return of 34% across the global equity funds he managed compared to 34.8% by the average manager in the sector.

The fund manager had been at the company since 2010 and prior to Schroders, he worked as a European equity manager at Gartmore.
