JPM appoints head of global strategy

JPM appoints head of global strategy

JP Morgan Asset Management (JPMAM) has appointed John Bilton to spearhead its global strategy team.

Based in London, Bilton will be responsible for determining global economic and asset allocation strategies for JP Morgan funds, and will report to James Elliot, chief investment officer of the international investment management solutions global multi-asset group.

Bilton joins from Bank of America Merrill Lynch where he was most recently head of European investment strategy, responsible for both European equity strategy and broader asset allocation research.

Commenting on Bilton’s appointment, Elliot said: 'John brings extensive asset allocation experience and leadership to our existing team. He will work closely with our quantitative research team and portfolio managers, across asset classes, to continue to build our asset allocation capabilities globally.'

This comes hot on the heels of the launch of JP Morgan's Global Allocation strategy, which has a three-year record in the US, into the UK.

The Global Allocation fund will be managed by Elliot, Citywire + rated Talib Sheikh, who already runs several other multi-asset products at the group; Jeffrey Geller, chief investment officer for the firm’s US global multi-asset team and Jonathan Cummings, a former JP Morgan private banker now on its global multi-asset desk.

Earlier in June, JPMAM also launched a $25 million flexible income fund for managers Andrew Norelli and Matthew Pallai to cater for investors looking for yield.
