Julius Baer reunites ex-Merrill Lynch director with discretionary team

Julius Baer has hired former Merrill Lynch Wealth Management director Stewart Edginton.

Edginton joins the portfolio management unit of Julius Baer as head of discretionary specialists, where he will lead a 12-strong team.

Edginton, who has more than 16 years' experience, started his wealth career with Singer & Friedlander in 1997, where he was responsible for around £200 million in client money.

He joined Merrill Lynch six years later and held a range of positions, including business development with responsibility for the intermediary and direct financial adviser sales channels.

In 2008 he moved to Zurich to set up family office Peak Investments, before returning to the UK at the start of 2014.

The appointment sees Edginton reunited with a number of his former colleagues after Julius Baer acquired Merrill Lynch's wealth management business last year.

Commenting on his appointment, Julius Baer head of portfolio management Edward Raymond said: 'We are pleased that Stewart has re-joined the team after five years abroad, in this exciting phase of our development. He brings to Julius Baer broad experience of catering to the needs of private clients and shares our vision to lead the wealth management industry.'
