Jupiter hires SLI's Teverson as GEM strategy head

Ross Teverson has joined Jupiter in the newly created role of head of strategy, global emerging markets.

He joins from Standard Life Investments, where he ran the group's Global Emerging Markets Equity Unconstrained Sicav.

Teverson (pictured) will join Jupiter in November and will oversee the asset manager's GEM team, which includes Kathryn Langridge, Philip Ehrmann, and Ben Surtees.

Jupiter's head of investments Stephen Pearson said: 'Developing our global emerging markets capability is strategically important to Jupiter. We already have a strong team of specialist fund managers in this space and Ross’s broad experience and skills will help us build out our strategies on a global basis.'

Teverson added: 'The considerable breadth and depth of emerging markets expertise already at Jupiter provides a strong foundation for further expansion.  I very much look forward to working with the team in offering clients exposure to compelling investment opportunities in emerging markets.'

SLI said that Teverson's Uncsontrained fund has been handed to his deputy, Matthew Williams, who will be supported by Ronnie Petrie, head of global emerging markets.

'Matthew has been deputy manager of the GEM Equity Unconstrained Sicav since the fund’s inception and has been an integral member of the emerging market team since 2010,' SLI said in a statement.  

'During this time, he has generated a strong track record in managing an internally run fund, similar in style to the GEM Equity Unconstrained Fund. Matthew is responsible for managing GEM autos, capital goods and telecoms sectors,'.

Since launch in October 2012, the Global Emerging Markets Equity Unconstrained Sicav has returned 20.2% versus the MSCI EMF index of 3.5%.
