Kleinwort Hambros restructures top brass as CEO step down

Kleinwort Hambros group chief executive officer Eric Barnett (pictured) is to give up his role in July, with current commercial director John Maitland replacing him.

A Kleinwort Hambros spokesperson told Wealth Manager it was Barnett’s decision to step down and that he will continue to chair Kleinwort Hambros entities in the Channel Islands.

Former Wealth Manager cover star, Mouhammed Choukeir, chief investment officer, and Gabrielle Branson will be appointed deputy CEOs of the private bank.

Paul Kearney, head of UK private banking, will fill the commercial director role left open by Maitland’s promotion to CEO.

The two-time Wealth Manager cover star, Barnett (pictured) had been CEO for 11-years including his time at SG Hambros and oversaw the integration of Kleinwort Benson after it was brought by Societe Generale in 2016.

Maitland joined SGPB Hambros in 2011 having previously been head of private clients at Barings.

Prior to that, he worked in the international private client division of Merrill Lynch where he held the position of managing director of United Kingdom and Ireland.
