Multi-asset team quits Barings as former Schroders equity boss arrives

Multi-asset team quits Barings as former Schroders equity boss arrives

Three multi-asset managers have resigned from Barings, with the firm also recruiting the former global head of equities at Schroders.

Percival Stanion has quit as head of the firm’s multi-asset group to take up an external opportunity, and his colleagues Andrew Cole (pictured) and Shaniel Ramjee have followed him out of the company.

Marino Valensise, chief investment officer at Barings for the past seven years, has been named as Stanion’s replacement. He will now manage the Baring Dynamic Asset Allocation fund, while Christopher Mahon will oversee the Baring Multi Asset fund.

Barings has also hired Ken Lambden as its new chief investment officer; Lambden was most recently global head of equities at Schroders, running more than £90 billion of assets.

‘We are pleased to welcome Ken to the firm as we continue to strengthen and develop our investment capabilities,’ said chief executive David Brennan.

‘It is a natural fit for Marino to assume leadership of our multi-asset franchise ensuring continuity of investment approach and insight across the portfolios.’

Sonja Laud has also moved from Schroders to Barings as a multi-asset income investment manager, reporting to Valensise.
