Nordea unveils GEM small cap & unconstrained bond funds in quadruple launch

Nordea unveils GEM small cap & unconstrained bond funds in quadruple launch

Nordea Asset Management has expanded its range with four funds, spanning fixed income and emerging market equities.

Nordea’s Unconstrained Bond fund will be managed by MacKay Shields, a US-based credit specialist that runs almost £50 billion of assets. It seeks to find opportunities within fixed income through multi-sector asset allocation and active duration management.

The Nordea Emerging Markets Small Cap fund will be run by a Boston-based small cap boutique, Copper Rock Capital Partners. Copper Rock employs bottom-up stock selection, based on a blend of quantitative and fundamental research.

The Nordea Chinese Equity fund will be managed internally by Nordea’s international focus equity team, which uses fundamental research to create a concentrated high-conviction portfolio of Chinese equities. The fund intends to back stocks benefitting from a more consumer-driven economy.

The Nordea Nordic Corporate Bond fund will also be run internally by Nordea’s credit team, and will not invest in debt issued by the financial sector.

‘By employing a multi-boutique approach combining internal strengths with external competences, know-how and quality in investment, fund management becomes possible across a broad product range,’ said Christophe Girondel, head of global fund distribution at Nordea.
