Q&A with Peter Dalgliesh, managing director (pictured top) and Simon Brett, CIO (pictured bottom), Parmenion, Bristol:
What is your typical client demographic?
Anyone in the care of a more investment led and/or tech savvy adviser.
What differentiates your location?
Bristol has two excellent universities, which provides a great local talent pool. It also has a very high proportion of graduates who decide to stay in the city and make it their home.
It has a burgeoning fintech hub and has an enterprise zone close to the mainline rail station benefiting from lower business rates, simplified planning and superfast broadband. With the electrification of the line, a journey to Paddington will only take one hour
and 20 minutes.
What challenges are facing your area?
Speak to anyone in Bristol and they will tell you local transport is a major issue. Congestion on the roads has led to a number of council led initiatives, but with no tangible impact. With popularity comes congestion.
There is also a wide gulf between affluent and gentrified areas of Bristol such as Clifton, Redland and Montpelier and the poorer areas such as Easton.
What is the best thing about living in your area?
Bristol has been named best place to live by the Sunday Times guide. There is easy access to London as well as the South West and South Wales coastline.
What is a typical regional saying?
What is your office motto?
Making investing simple.
Are you bullish or bearish?
It varies by asset class. Broadly neutral with an overweight in some corporate bonds.
