Q&A with Luke Pearce, investment manager, Rowan Dartington, Leeds:
What is your typical client demographic?
Our clients are wide ranging in their demographics and investment needs. Some had been dissatisfied with the service they were receiving elsewhere. All are aware, and want, the highly personal and attentive service that they receive though Rowan Dartington and our parent company St James’s Place.
What differentiates your region?
We don’t beat around the bush and you’ll get a straight forward and honest answer to your question. The answer may not be the one you wanted to hear but it’s the ‘honest truth’.
What challenges are facing your area?
Leeds is a forward looking, vibrant and exciting city which places us in an excellent position to face the challenges of the future. As we enter 2018, the greatest challenge for Leeds is the same as every other region – what will be the effects of Brexit and how do we ensure that we succeed and not succumb.
What’s a typical regional saying?
'There’s nowt like a proper brew'.
What’s the best thing about living in your area?
The wonderful coastline, the Moors & Dales, the history of York and the excitement of Leeds. This incredible diversity attracts a wonderful range of people. The best thing though is the pride that all Yorkshire folk take in their county, in helping others and striving to achieve the very best.
Bullish or bearish?
Markets are reflecting that economic growth is strong in a lot of areas of the world and heading into 2018 we are, broadly speaking, bullish. That being said, many markets are not ‘cheap’ and as ever there is a need for prudence, diversification and risk management.
