Pimco poaches Schroder global equity boss

Pimco has poached Schroders’ head of global and international equities Virginie Maisonneuve to serve as its global head of equities.

The former Citywire rated manager is in charge of a handful of funds at the UK firm, including the Schroder ISF Global Equity and the Schroder ISF Global Equity Alpha.

Maisonneuve's deputy, Simon Webber, will become the lead portfolio manager for global and international equities at the firm. Peter
Harrison, global head of equities, will take on management responsibility for the team.

The existing global and international equities team will continue to manage institutional mandates and the Global Equity Alpha and Global Alpha Plus funds.

Maisonneuve was also director of Schroder Investment North America. Previously she worked for US equity boutique Clay Finlay, having earlier held positions at Batterymarch and Martin Currie.

‘We are delighted to have Virginie on board,’ said Mohamed El-Erian, Pimco chief executive and co-chief investment officer.

‘Virginie is a proven equity investor and leader who has delivered a track-record of success for clients throughout her 25-year career as a portfolio manager and a business builder.’

Schroders' global head of equities Harrison commented: 'Global and international equities is a priority growth area for Schroders and we want to develop our existing, strong business and make it world class. Virginie has worked hard in building the team over the past nine years.

'Our experienced team of global sector specialists have generated some excellent investment ideas and we believe that bringing additional discipline to the portfolio construction process will lead to a sustained improvement in performance for clients over the long term.'
