Rathbones hires two as Bond steps back from Recovery fund

Rathbones hires two as Bond steps back from Recovery fund

Marina Bond is stepping back as co-manager of the Rathbone Recovery fund, with two new hires set to take on the mantle.

Citywire AA-rated Bond is stepping back from day-to-day management of the Rathbone Recovery fund due to health reasons. AA-rated Julian Chillingworth (pictured), chief investment officer, will continue to oversee the fund, with a new hire Jo Rands set to take over as co-manager.

Rands joins from Peel Hunt and has over 15 years’ analytical experience, covering UK small and mid-cap stocks on both the buy and sell-sides.

Rathbones has also decided to promote Alexandra Jackson, assistant manager of the Rathbone Global Opportunities fund, to work alongside Chillingworth and Rands as co-manager of the Rathbone Recovery fund.

Jackson will be replaced on the Rathbone Global Opportunities fund with Sammy Dow, who will work alongside lead manager, James Thomson, as an assistant manager. He will join in July from JP Morgan Cazenove, where he was executive director of pan European equity sales.

Mike Webb, chief executive of Rathbone Unit Trust Management, commented: 'Marina’s forensic investment skills and small cap expertise have been a great credit to Rathbones for almost 15 years, and we wish her a speedy recovery and return to Rathbones. We also extend our congratulations to Jo, Alexandra and Sammy on their new roles.'

Over the three years to the end of April, Bond and Chillingworth have posted a 42.8% return versus a UK All Companies sector average of 31.93%.
