Royal Mail could face 'material losses' from French anti-trust probe

Royal Mail has said that it could face 'material losses' on the back of a French probe into alleged breaches of antitrust laws.

In a stock market announcement, the company said that it has received notice from the French competition authority, the Autorité de la Concurrence, that its French subsidiary, GLS France, is being investigated over its 'alleged activities within the industry' in France.

Royal Mail said: 'We are currently considering the notice received from the French regulator. Given the early stage of this matter, we cannot yet determine the amount or range of potential loss; however, it is possible that it could be material.'
