Sanlam appoints new head of small cap research

Sanlam appoints new head of small cap research

Sanlam Securities UK  has appointed Adrian Kearsey as head of small cap research.

Kearsey will lead the existing team at the business, the corporate finance and broking arm of Sanlam Private Investments.

In his new role, he will also lead the expansion of the small cap research department and help increase its coverage of small cap companies and the business services sector.

Kearsey joins from Hardman Research where he was a research analyst specialising in the support services sector and a member of the executive board.

During his time there he helped redesign the research product and was instrumental in taking Hardman from being a commissioned research organisation into a broader investment consultancy business.

Craig Massey, CEO of Sanlam Private Investments said: 'The expansion of the discretionary and wealth management part of our business is well under way, but we also have growth plans for Sanlam Securities UK, as it complements perfectly our existing businesses and provides great synergies within the larger group.'

'The expansion of its sales and research capability is the first step in a much wider strategy which is focused on growing our corporate client base in terms both of client numbers and market cap. SSUK has a solid future ahead of it as it, support by the backing of a strong international parent.'

Massey added: 'The recruitment of high calibre individuals is a key part of our philosophy throughout the group and Adrian is an experienced and highly respected support services analyst with strong connections amongst the UK small and mid-cap fund management community.'

Prior to Hardman, Kearsey spent over a decade at Evolution Securities, where he was a director and deputy head of research. There, he led the small cap corporate client research team, acting as a sell side support services analyst and covering over 50 corporate clients.
