Schroders' appoints Biermann to head UK Dynamic Smaller Companies fund

Schroders has appointed rising star Luke Biermann to head its Dynamic Smaller Companies fund.

He will take over from star fund manager Paul Marriage (pictured) and his co-manager John Warren, who are leaving Schroders to launch their own boutique, Tellworth Investments, in the fourth quarter.

Biermann (pictured) has been a member of  Schroders' European small and mid cap team for the past 10 years, as both an analyst and fund manager. he has run the Schroder European Smaller Companies fund for five of those years, returning 130.5% versus the average manager's 113% gain.

'Luke’s track record demonstrates outstanding portfolio management skills within the small cap universe and his investment style is ideally suited to the Dynamic Smaller Companies portfolio,' said Rory Bateman, head of UK and European equities at Schroders.

'Schroders has a depth of talent within our equities business and we have every confidence that Luke will continue the success of the Schroder UK Dynamic Smaller Companies Fund in the years to come.'

In addition to his new responsibilities, Biermann will continue to manage the European Smaller Companies fund.
