Scottish wealth firm unveils Standard Life Aberdeen and Tcam hires

Anderson Strathern Asset Management has hired a series of senior wealth managers as chief executive John Brett, who joined the business from Aberdeen in 2016, gears up company capacity.

‘This is about our evolution as a firm, the strengthening of the team [and] refining and modernising our client proposition,’ said Brett (pictured). ‘We see strong financial planning and multi-asset investment solutions as the future for our clients.’

Fiona Gillespie joins the business as senior investment manager from Standard Life Aberdeen, where she was co-manager of the Aberdeen Managed Distribution Fund between 2003 and 2017, and the Diversified Growth fund between 2012 and 2016.

Also joining from Aberdeen is Phillip Ross, who will take up a role as wealth manager, following 20 years at the firm. Having joined Aberdeen as a quantitative analyst he became an investment manager in 2011.

Former Tcam Asset Management senior financial planner Nick Paul joins the business as a chartered wealth manager and will head up estate planning, inheritance and retirement advice.

‘Bringing Fiona, Phillip and Nick into the team is focused around adding skills to complement our existing offering,’ Brett added.

‘We think we have a great model, working closely with Anderson Strathern LLP - both the law firm and its private client practice - to provide the best end-to-end services in the market.’

Anderson Strathern AM was spun out of its law firm parent in 2011. The business currently manages £250 million on behalf of around 400 clients.
