New wealth firm Hartmann Capital has expanded its private client team with the hire of Alex Ford from Barclays.
Ford was most recently at Barclays Wealth, where he spent five years at the private bank, latterly on its financial institutions team. The hire marks a significant step for the business, which launched earlier this year.
Hartmann managing director Elizabeth Carr-Stevens (pictured), who was a co-founder of Close Wealth Management and is a former Wealth Manager cover star, said: ‘We are delighted Alex has joined. He possesses not only broad investment management experience but his previous focus on hedge funds and private equity will be an advantage to us.’
Hartmann Capital, which has derivatives, fund management and fixed income divisions, decided to broaden its offering to target high and ultra-high net worth individuals early this year and has attracted around £65 million in assets so far.
The parent group was established by Andrew Fitton, founder of hedge fund outfit Gracchi Capital Partners.
Carr-Stevens, a former Wealth Manager cover star, has been joined by ex-Arjent colleague Nick Atkinson and Stephen Grell, formerly of Republic Bank Group in the Caribbean. Both joined as senior investment managers. Carr-Stevens previously headed Cazenove’s Salisbury office and also had a stint as head of private clients at Arjent.
