The 25 biggest private banks in the world

Scorpio Partnership's annual study showed that 2017 was a prosperous year for the world's biggest private banks.

Assets under management at the top 25 private banks in the world rose by 17% on average in 2017, according to Scorpio Partnership's 2018 Global Private Banking Benchmark.

Collectively the top 25 now manage $16.2 trillion (£12.07 trillion) between them as wealth managers benefitted from favourable market conditions, demonstrated by the 22% rise in the FTSE All Share in 2017.

However, Scorpio noted there were other positive indicators, with net inflows rising by 4.3% for those firms who declared data in 2017 after a flat 2016.

'Conditions have been exceptionally positive for global wealth management in the last 12 months, but wealth firms must also be given credit for starting to find new revenue,' Scorpio director Caroline Burkart.

'Our client engagement assessments throughout 2017 have indicated that client sentiment is on the up, which is inevitable when markets are good.'

According to the study, Asian firms registered the most gains, while a familiar name kept top spot. Find out who made the top 25...
