The top 25 private banks in the world saw their assets under management rise by 5.9% in 2016 according to GlobalData's annual study.

Assets jump

According to data and solutions provider GlobalData's annual Global Private Wealth Managers AUM Ranking, the world's 25 largest wealth managers saw their assets under management rose by 5.5% last year. This compares to a 2.9% rise in the previous year.

GlobalData's analysis is compiled from publicly available information such as annual reports and financial statements.

While the industry overall registered growth, some of the household names fell back, while Asian private banks cemented their position as a growing influence.
