Turcan Connell financial planning head Bob Hair to depart

Turcan Connell financial planning head Bob Hair to depart

Turcan Connell Asset Management executive director and head of financial planning Bob Hair is to leave the company after a nine-year spell.

Hair (pictured) will exit Turcan Connell in November and be replaced by financial planning director Derek Blaik. The reasons for Hair’s departure are not known.

Commenting on Hair’s planned departure, Turcan Connell Asset Management chairman Douglas Connell said: ‘Bob Hair, head of financial planning, is leaving Turcan Connell by mutual agreement in November 2013.

‘Derek Blaik, who has over 20 years’ experience advising private clients, will lead our team of financial planners.’

Blaik has worked at Turcan Connell for close to nine years and has been a financial planning director at the company since April 2010.

Prior to Turcan Connell, Hair worked as a financial planner at Gerrards for five years until 2004, and prior to that he had a spell at Scottish Widows.

Back in April, the firm strengthened its internal risk controls with the appointment of engineer and analytics specialist Tom Pitchforth as quantitative research manager across its portfolios, in recognition of what it described as the increasing importance of risk management.

Pitchforth previously spent 10 years as lead engineer at Edinburgh-based defence electronics business Selex Galileo, where he worked extensively in algorithm design and management.

Turcan Connell has about £1 billion in funds under custody, while £700 million is managed by the firm’s discretionary team. The Turcan Connell group combines legal, wealth, investment and tax advice under one roof, with offices in Glasgow, Edinburgh, London and Guernsey.
