UBS Wealth teams up with World Bank for sustainable launch

UBS Global Wealth Management will be launching its first sustainable investing portfolio for clients in the UK.

There will be a range of three options, including yield, balanced and growth portfolios and UBS has partnered with the World Bank and Hermes to build elements of the strategy.

This follows the launch of new sustainable investing portfolios in Asia Pacific and Switzerland.

The strategy will mirror UBS's traditional strategic asset allocation for UK clients, aiming to produce similar risk/return profiles with sustainable outcomes.

The portfolio will invest in World Bank bonds, green bonds and ESG equity funds focused on shareholder engagement.

Eva Lindholm, head of GWM UK, said: 'It has been evident for us for quite a number of years that our clients’ investment priorities are changing. The interest in sustainable investing has moved well beyond fringe territory.

'Our clients want to leave a footprint on their planet that is greater than their wealth. They look at their wealth and think, what is it all for?'

James Purcell, head of alternative & sustainable investments added: 'Demand for sustainable and impact investing has undeniably been on the rise in recent years. The game changer has been the realisation that this investment strategy does not mean sacrificing returns. The opportunity to make a positive contribution in the world whilst receiving a positive financial contribution is extremely compelling.'
