Waverton recruits ex-Coutts director

Waverton Investment Management has hired former Coutts director Mary Haly for its private client team.

She joins the firm as a senior portfolio manager and director. At Coutts, she headed a team in the private bank's tailored portfolio services division.

Haly (pictured) started her career at KPMG Peat Marwick Mclintock, where she qualified as a chartered accountant. Prior to Coutts, which she joined in 2011, she had stints at SG Asset Management, Baring Asset Management and Kleinwort Benson.

Chief executive Andrew Fleming said Haly 'brings a wealth of expertise, a strong track record and impressive professional credentials.

'[Her] expertise will strengthen our existing family and private client service and I have no doubt that she will play a key role in developing our business further.'

Waverton, which has approximately £5.3 billion in assets under management, has made a number of appointments over the last year.

Last year, it hired Bill Dinning as head of investment strategy from Kames Capital. It also recruited Mercury Asset Management founder David Rosier as non-executive chairman.
