WH Ireland brings ex-Barclays duo in Birmingham push

WH Ireland brings ex-Barclays duo in Birmingham push

WH Ireland has brought in Paul Smith and Hitesh Mistry as investment managers based in the firm's Birmingham office.

In their new roles, Smith and Mistry are expected to focus on growing the office's discretionary client base.

The duo was among a number of Barclays Wealth private bankers based in Birmingham who were made redundant last month, as revealed by Wealth Manager.

These departures came as the bank unveiled a streamlined regional management structure after an overhaul of its wealth management business led to a raft of regional roles being cut.

This involved a 35% reduction in private banker headcount as it changes the way it services clients with sub-£500,000 portfolios with the launch of a new lighter-touch private clients division.

Smith brings 17 years’ experience to the role, including a spell at Charles Stanley, while Hitesh has 19 years’ experience. Prior to Barclays, he held a role at Gerrard Investment Management.

Richard Killingbeck (pictured), chief executive of WH Ireland Group said in a statement: 'Both are experienced investment managers with good track records. These appointments complement the existing team and enhance the office’s capacity to attract additional clients and grow funds under management.'
