May was once again a busy month for recruitment in the wealth and funds industry.

Three quit Invesco to join Woodford

May started off with news that Neil Woodford (pictured) had returned to his former employers Invesco Perpetual to snare three for his new investment firm.

Stephen Lamacraft, manager of the Invesco Pan European Equity Income fund, will join Woodford Investment Management, along with Paul Lamacraft and Saku Saha.

Investec boosts multi-asset team with triple hire

On the same day it was revealed that Investec Asset Management had made a triple hire for its multi-asset team.

Edmund Ng joined from TT International, while Michael Streatfield and Atul Shinh came from Towers Watson and Mercer respectively. The three will work with Michael Spinks (pictured), who was poached by Investec from Schroders in 2012.

Charles Stanley hires Redmayne Bentley Oxford trio

Wealth Manager revealed Charles Stanley has hired a three-strong team from Redmayne's Abingdon office in Oxford.

The team comprises Helen Merrington-Rust MBE, John Shelvey and Sara Anscombe and doubles the number of investment managers in Charles Stanley's existing Oxford branch, which was established in 1994 and is headed by Simon Scott-White (pictured).

Brown Shipley hires ex-Coutts sports & entertainment boss

David Thompson joined as a private client director in its London office, working with private bank head Hugh Titcomb (pictured).

Thompson joins from Coutts where he spent 25 years, lately as head of the private bank's sports and entertainment arm. Other positions held included head of client service and senior wealth manager, where he provided tailored financial counsel to a diverse range of clients.

Arbuthnot Latham hires Sanlam financial planner

Arbuthnot, led by chief executive James Flemming (pictured), strengthened its ranks with the hire of Simon Reynolds from Sanlam Private Investments, where he will be responsible for providing financial planning advice to the clients of the bank and their families.

Threadneedle US team follows Weldon to Artemis

Wealth Manager revealed five North American equities analysts have followed Cormac Weldon (pictured) and Stephen Moore from Threadneedle to Artemis, with the firm planning to launch five funds for its new team.

The new recruits are technology specialist William Warren, consumer analyst Paul Gannon, Olivia Miller, Chris Kent, and Nafis Chowdhury.

Rob Kyprianou joins Pimco board

Pimco Europe appointed Rob Kyprianou (pictured) as a non-executive director.

Kyprianou, who has over 30 years’ experience in asset management, previously served as chief executive of AXA Framlington Investment Managers, head of fixed income at ABN Amro, and investment head at Salomon Brothers Asset Management.

HSBC GAM global bonds head exits

Guy Dunham left his role as head of global bonds at HSBC Global Asset Management in London.

In his place HSBC has named Ernst Osiander as head of its global bond team in London. Osiander joined HSBC in January 2012 from FMS Wertmanagement, and between 1999 and 2010 worked at BNY Mellon managing global bond and currency portfolios.

Waverton hires executive trio

Hugh Grootenhuis' (pictured) Waverton bolstered its board with the hire of three senior former fund executives in a drive to build on alternative channels, alongside its core private client base.

Christopher Keljik, an executive director of Standard Chartered Bank Australia, joins as a non-executive director, alongside former Rothschild Asset Management chief executive Peter Troughton.

Meanwhile Vivien Gould, who has been a director at River & Mercantile Investment Management, has also joined as a non-executive.

Majedie poaches Fidelity £2.9bn star for US fund launch

US equity manager Adrian Brass (pictured) is to leave Fidelity and join Majedie, with the boutique planning to launch a new fund for him.

Brass has run the £2.9 billion Fidelity fund for the past six years. In the last three years the fund returned 40.9% compared to a peer group average of 36.5%.

The private client stockbroker announced that former Goldman Sachs Asset Management International director Caroline Taylor is to join its board as a non-executive director.

Taylor, who has over 25 years of experience in financial services, has a strong background in investment management operations, compliance and legal issues, the wealth manager said in a stock market announcement.

Brooks Macdonald Funds has hired David Scammell for the newly created role of international business development manager.

Scammell, who will be based in the group’s Mayfair office, joins from Frontier Investment Management and will be tasked with promoting and distributing Brooks’ funds both internationally and in the South West.
