Octopus co-founder Myles quits to launch own firm

Octopus Investments co-founder Guy Myles is leaving the company to set up his own firm.

Myles co-founded Octopus with chief executive Simon Rogerson and Chris Hulatt, chief financial officer, back in 2000. He will retain his shareholding and remain an ambassador for the company.

Rogerson said Myles has helped build Octopus into a £3.5 billion fund management  with 300 staff and 50,000 customers.

‘I’d like to take this opportunity to thank him for all the sacrifice and hard work that has gone into this over the last 14 years. Guy is incredibly entrepreneurial and is most happy when building businesses from start-up,’ Rogerson said.

‘While we are sad that he will not be with us to help drive the next phase of Octopus’ growth, we all wish him every success in his new venture.’

Myles added: ‘Now feels the right time for me to step away to pursue my other interests in the knowledge that Octopus is well positioned for further growth over the coming years.

‘I am incredibly proud of the business we have created at Octopus and of the 300 strong team we now have to help us deliver on our commitment to put our customers’ needs first. I look forward to seeing Octopus continuing to thrive in the coming years.’
