Old Mutual hires third Schroders UK equity manager

Old Mutual Global Investors has raided Schroders' UK equity team once again.
Ed Meier, co-manager on the Schroder UK Equity fund, will follow the asset manager's head of UK equities Richard Buxton and fellow UK equity manager Errol Francis to Old Mutual Global Investors.
Meier will join Old Mutual Global Investors in mid-June, reporting to Buxton (pictured), who will take up the post of UK equity head.
'Ed will bring extensive asset management industry knowledge and experience to Old Mutual Global Investors having worked in the industry for over 12 years,' Old Mutual Global Investors said in a statement.
'This appointment complements Old Mutual Global Investors existing UK Equity teams. By adding Richard’s, Errol’s and Ed’s large cap investment capabilities alongside our leading UK Small and Mid -Cap, UK All Companies and UK Equity Income teams, we have a market leading suite of long-only and long-short UK equity investment strategies.'
Meier started his career in Fletcher Advisory in 2000. He subsequently had a spell at BAE Systems Pensions Funds in 2002, where he learnt his craft as a UK equity manager before joining Schroders in January 2006. He has co-managed the Schroder UK Equity fund alongside Francis since January 2010.
This latest development increases the pressure on Schroders to find a replacement for Buxton soon.
In an interview with Wealth Manager last week, the firm's head of UK intermediary Robin Stoakley said he expected a successor to be announced 'in weeks'.
