Overnight Markets: Stocks jump as Senate nears deal on debt ceiling

Shares of Yahoo (YHOO.O) fell 0.9% a day after the company took down its own forecast for the full 2013 year.
EBay Inc (EBAY.O) fell 4.5% after a disappointing sales forecast for the holiday season.
In Asia shares gained after the US Congress voted to end the government shutdown and raise the debt ceiling.
The MSCI Asia Pacific Index gained 0.7% to 142 as of 11:34 a.m. in Tokyo. The Shanghai Composite Index climbed 0.4%, heading for its first advance in three days. Japan’s Topix index gained 1%, while Taiwan’s Taiex index increased 0.5%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index rose 0.1%, while Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 Index gained 0.2% and New Zealand’s NZX 50 Index added 0.4%. South Korea’s Kospi index advanced 0.1%.
