EBay Inc (EBAY.O) declined 3.9% and was the biggest drag on the Nasdaq 100 index after the company gave a disappointing holiday forecast a day earlier.
In Asia, most stocks gained on Friday in late morning trade as China reported economic growth accelerated and after the US reopened its government and averted a debt default.
The MSCI Asia Pacific Index added 0.1% to 143 as of 11:18 a.m. in Tokyo. China’s Shanghai Composite Index gained 0.1%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index and Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 Index both increased 0.7%. Japan’s Topix index was little changed and South Korea’s Kospi index added 0.1%. Taiwan’s Taiex index gained 0.4% and New Zealand’s NZX 50 Index slipped 0.1%.
