Overnight Markets: US stocks fall amid Cyprus bailout concerns

Apple gained 2.7% as the company is poised to boost its dividend by more than a half, according to analysts surveyed by Bloomberg.

In Asia, shares gained on Tuesday, led by banking stocks, after more than $500 billion was wiped from global equity markets on Monday amid fears that Europe will plunge back into crisis.

The MSCI Asia Pacific Index added 0.7 percent to 135.10 as of 10:39 a.m. in Tokyo. Japan’s Nikkei 225 Stock Average advanced 1.9% as exporters rose as the yen weakened against the dollar. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 Index rose 0.4%. South Korea’s Kospi Index climbed 0.7% and New Zealand’s NZX 50 Index added 0.2%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index gained 0.4% and China’s Shanghai Composite Index increased 0.5%.
