Overnight Markets: US stocks fall as debt impasse continues

Yahoo Inc (YHOO.O) also lost its initial post-market gains, trading flat after its results, while CSX Corp (CSX.N) held on to slight after-hour gains.
Shares of Teradata Corp (TDC.N) fell 18.4%, a day after the data analytics firm cut its full-year earnings forecast.
In Asia, shares oscillated between gains and losses on Wednesday in morning trade as US lawmakers resumed talks to avoid a default ahead of tomorrow’s deadline to raise the debt ceiling.
The MSCI Asia Pacific Index was little changed at 141 as of 11:23 a.m. in Tokyo. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index slipped 0.3%, while China’s Shanghai Composite Index dropped 1.3%. Japan’s Topix (TPX) fell 0.1% and Taiwan’s Taiex index lost 0.2%.
South Korea’s Kospi index was little changed after a report showed the nation’s unemployment rate unexpectedly fell to 3% in September from 3.1% a month earlier. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 Index was little changed, while New Zealand’s NZX 50 Index added 0.3%. Singapore’s Straits Times Index gained 0.4%.
