Overnight Markets: US stocks rally as jobless claims decline

The MSCI Asia Pacific Index added 0.7% to 132 as of 10:08 a.m. in Tokyo. Japan’s Topix index rallied 1.4% after the yen dropped 0.7% against the dollar on Thursday. South Korea’s Kospi index added 0.3%.

Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 Index added 0.5% as the nation’s reserve bank raised its economic-growth and inflation forecasts. New Zealand’s NZX 50 Index advanced 0.6% as the market reopened following a holiday. In China, Shanghai Composite Index declined 0.52%, while in Hong Kong, the Hang Seng Index gained 0.93%.
