Overnight Markets: Wall Street climbs on jobless data

The MSCI Asia Pacific Index climbed 0.5% to 136 as of 12:08 p.m. Tokyo time. Japan’s Nikkei 225 Stock Average increased 0.8%, extending its advance toward the highest level since September 2008. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 Index advanced 1.1%, while Singapore’s Straits Times Index added 0.5%.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index rose 0.4%. The Shanghai Composite Index swung between gains and losses. South Korea’s Kospi Index dropped 0.6%, reversing an increase of 0.4%.
