Overnight Markets: Wall Street falls as investors weigh data

Dow Chemical Co. slid 7% after earnings missed forecasts as sales fell in Europe. ConocoPhillips slipped 5.1% after saying oil and natural gas production will hit a low point this year.

In Asia, shares oscillated between gains and losses on Friday in morning trade after a gauge of China’s manufacturing unexpectedly declined, while Japanese shares rose on earnings and a weaker yen.

The MSCI Asia Pacific Index slid 0.1% to 133 as of 10:47 a.m. in Tokyo. Japan’s Nikkei 225 Stock Average rose 0.4% today, heading for a 12th weekly advance. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index and Shanghai Composite Index fell 0.4%.

Australia’s ASX All Ordinaries Index was up 0.82%, while Korea’s Kospi Index lost 0.09%.
