Overnight Markets: Wall Street gains on strong auto sales

U.S.-traded shares of BlackBerry (BBRY.O) jumped 5.3% after the Wall Street Journal reported BlackBerry's board hopes to run a "fast" auction process that could result in a sale of the company by November.
In Asia, shares oscillated between gains and losses on Thursday in late morning trade after the Federal Reserve and Bank of Japan said they saw moderate recoveries in two of the world’s three biggest economies.
The MSCI Asia Pacific Index gained 0.2% to 133 as of 10:45 a.m. in Hong Kong. Japan’s Topix added 0.1%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index climbed 1% and Singapore’s Straits Times Index advanced 1.1%. South Korea’s Kospi index added 1% and Taiwan’s Taiex Index gained 0.7%.Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 Index slid 0.4%. China’s Shanghai Composite retreated 0.5% and New Zealand’s NZX 50 Index fell 0.1%.
