Overnight Markets: Wall Street inches higher on Summers' withdrawal

On the negative side, Apple (AAPL.O) shares weighed down the Nasdaq Composite. Apple fell 3.2% after investors were disappointed by the new products and prices introduced last week. Hewlett-Packard Co. dropped 1.5%.
In Asia, shares declined on Tuesday in late morning trade as the Fed begins a two-day policy meeting at which it is forecast to reduce the pace of its US bond buying.
The MSCI Asia Pacific Index slipped 0.3% to 138 as of 11:38 a.m. in Hong Kong. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 Index rose 0.1%, New Zealand’s NZX 50 Index slid 0.1%, Taiwan’s Taiex Index dropped 0.3% and Singapore’s Straits Times Index gained 0.2%.
South Korea’s Kospi index retreated 0.5%. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index sank 0.2% and China’s Shanghai Composite Index lost 0.9%.
