Overnight Markets: Wall Street snaps five-day losing streak on jobless data

In deal news, EBay Inc. jumped 4.5% after agreeing to buy Braintree for $800 million to expand its mobile-transactions business.
In Asia, shares gained on Friday in morning session after US jobless claims unexpectedly declined and Japan’s inflation accelerated to the fastest pace since 2008.
The MSCI Asia Pacific Index rose 0.1% to 141 as of 9:53 a.m. in Hong Kong. Japan’s Topix index was little changed. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 Index advanced 0.2%, heading for a five-year high. New Zealand’s NZX 50 Index rose 0.2% and South Korea’s Kospi index added 0.3%.
Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index climbed 0.2%. Taiwan’s Taiex Index added 0.3% and China’s Shanghai Composite Index increased 0.3%. Singapore’s Straits Times Index advanced 0.6%.
